Impulse transferring email service

Impulse will be transferring ownership of our email service to Hiwaay Information Services (https://www.hiwaay.net/) on February 8th.  After more than 25 years of providing personal and business email service as we built out our portfolio of business products, we have decided to do what is best for our customers and transfer email to a company that is dedicated to providing and supporting this service.  Impulse will continue to focus on providing our customers with all our other internet and voice services.

To assist our email customers during this transition, below is the list of Frequently Asked Questions that we compiled for your reference.

When will this happen?

This transfer of service will take place on Tuesday, February 8th, 2022.  Beginning on that day, the new service provider will take control of your email service.  All invoices related to email service will begin on that date with the new provider.

Will I lose my saved emails?

The new provider will sync existing email that’s currently on the Impulse servers and upload it to their server.  You will not lose stored email messages.

Will my calendar and contacts be migrated?

Yes.  Your Zimbra calendar and address book will be migrated to the new service.

Will I have any service interruption?

This transfer of service will be seamless to you as a user.  The new service provider will complete the transfer in the background and you will not have any interruption of service.  All of the devices you use for mail will continue to work as they do today.

What will happen to Symantec email filtering?

Symantec spam filtering will be discontinued in favor of the new provider’s built-in spam filtering service.  You should release any emails from quarantine that you would like to keep before 1/31.

What will the cost be on the new service?

The cost monthly will be $5 for the first mailbox and $2 for each additional mailbox.

Billing-related questions should be addressed to Hiwaay Information Services but if you have any remaining questions between now and February 8th, please feel free to reach out to us at 805-456-5800.
