1. Jabra Evolve 65 UC
The Jabra Evolve 65 UC is a top-of-the-line wireless headset that features passive noise cancellation technology, allowing you stay focused by reducing unwanted background noise. Additional features include: a wireless range of up to 100 feet, 10-hour battery life, busy light, Bluetooth connection, USB dongle and a USB cable. This headset connects to computers and is compatible with the VVX500, 501, 600, 601, and 401 desk phones. It is capable of connecting to two devices simultaneously. The Jabra Evolve 65 UC is an over-the-head style headset that is available in Mono (one ear) or Duo (two ear). Mono: $180. Duo: $200.
2. Jabra Pro 920
The Jabra Pro 920 is a wireless headset that is ideal for active, multi-tasking employees. It uses DECT technology for a wireless range of up to 300 feet. This headset can be used with all VVX phone models and its base connects to desk phones using EHS and RJ-9 cables. Mono (one ear) is available in over-the-head and over-the-ear wearing styles. 3. Jabra 9450
The Jabra 9450 uses DECT technology for a wireless range of up to 300 feet and has a 10 hour battery life. It is compatible with desk phones and softphones and allows you to listen to music on your computer. This headset can be used with all VVX phone models. Its base connects to a computer via USB cable, and to desk phones using EHS and RJ-9 cables. It is capable of connecting to two devices simultaneously. It is available in a variety of wearing styles including: over-the-head, behind-the-head, and ear loop wearing styles. $388.
4. Jabra GN 2124 NC
Multi-Style Wired Headset
The Jabra GN 2124 NC is a premium wired headset that can be worn in a variety of styles: ear hook, ear loop, over-the-head, and behind-the-neck. This is a lightweight headset suitable for all-day wear. It features a noise-cancelling microphone and includes a quick disconnect (QD) cable for use with all Polycom desk phones. $150.
5. Jabra 1500
The Jabra Biz 1500 is an affordable, entry-level wired headset. It comes equipped with a single wired USB cable or a quick disconnect (QD) cable–depending on the model selected. The USB model connects to a computer or to VVX500, 501, 600, 601, and 401 desk phones. The quick disconnect (QD) model is compatible with all Polycom phones. 6. Jabra 2300
The Jabra Biz 2300 is a wired headset that is both comfortable and durable. It comes equipped with a single wired USB cable or a quick disconnect (QD) cable–depending on the model selected. 7. Logitech H340
The Logitech H340 is a wired headset with exceptional sound clarity that is both comfortable and durable. It connects to a computer or desk phone using a single wired USB cord. This headset is compatible with VVX500, 501, 600, 601, and 401 desk phones. The Logitech H340 is an over-the-head, Duo (two ear) headset. $30.
8. How to Connect a Wired Headset
A wired headset plugs directly into a desk phone using a headset jack located on the back of the phone. The headset jack is identified by a small label and is separate from the handset jack. The cables should plug in directly to their respective jacks.
Click-to-dial is a feature that allows you to dial from your computer browser. If you plan to use a click-to-dial client and to use your headset to for all calls, enable the “headset memory” feature.
Headset Memory
To enable Headset Memory on the Polycom phone:
- Press the “Home” button.
- Select Settings
- Select Basic
- Select Preferences
- Select Headset
- Select Headset Memory
- Select Enabled
- Press the “Headset” button twice to enable.
After pressing the home button twice, the Headset button should blink slowly. Calls answered will go directly to the headset. Using the handset or speakerphone will disengage headset memory mode. Press the headset button twice to reengage headset memory mode.
How to connect a Wireless Headset
A wireless headset connects to a desk phone using either a handset “lifter” or an EHS (electronic hook switch) cable. EHS cables are a newer technology and work better with Polycom phones than the older handset lifters.
To connect a wireless headset to your desk phone using an EHS cable:
- Plug the 5-pin end of the EHS cable into the corresponding port on the back of your phone.
- Plug the other end of the EHS cable into the headset base unit.
- Plug the headset’s RJ-9 connector to the headset jack on the back of the phone.
- Plug the other end of the RJ-9 connector into the headset base unit
To set the Polycom phone to use the EHS cable:
- Press the “Home” button.
- Select Settings
- Select Basic
- Select Preferences
- Select Headset
- Select Hookswitch Mode
- Select the brand of headset you are using
- Approve the change and reboot the phone
Headset Memory
To enable Headset Memory on the Polycom phone:
- Press the “Home” button
- Select Settings
- Select Basic
- Select Preferences
- Select Headset
- Select Headset Memory
- Select Enabled
- Press the “Headset” button twice to enable
