Leading Regional Internet Service Providers Combine Efforts to Create a Central Coast Powerhouse for Residential and Business Internet Users
Santa Barbara, CA, April 10th, 2002 - Impulse Internet Services and FIX Net announced today their intention to merge operations. The companies both provide Internet services to residences and businesses, with Impulse Internet Services operating primarily in Santa Barbara County, and FIX Net operating primarily in San Luis Obispo County.
The two companies are approximately the same size, and expect to be able to leverage greater buying power and economies of scale to supplement their existing network infrastructure, bringing more services, faster speeds, and greater reliability to their existing customers. Among the planned service enhancements:
- Nationwide dial-up access numbers for users who travel or are moving out of the area
- World-class data-center facilities for customers choosing to co-locate their servers
- A fiber-optic network traversing the Central Coast providing higher speeds, enhanced redundancy and greater reliability
Impulse Internet Services and FIX Net will continue to operate from their existing offices, and no significant staff changes are expected.
"I am very excited to work with the staff at Impulse Internet Services. I feel our combination will benefit our customers as well as our community," said Cheryl M. Woodard, President and CEO of FIX Net. "This is the next step to keep us ahead of our national competitors while remaining focused on providing outstanding service to our local customers." Cheryl M.
